Project Paddock
Situated on the edge of the countryside in North Bristol, this beautiful garden has been transformed into a blissful and contemporary retreat.
The Brief
We were approached by a wonderful couple whose children had just left home to attend university.
The brief was to develop a design that would transform their garden into a sophisticated, low-maintenance space which could also incorporate a garden office.
After brainstorming with the couple, we got to work creating a practical but relaxing garden with flowing open-zoned areas for entertaining, lounging and working.

The Garden
Enclosed with handmade venetian slatted panels, the garden is now the model of a modern, cultivated outdoor space. The natural sandstone patio, laid with charcoal brick borders, flows around the garden.
This brings easy access to the space while still providing contained areas, which are perfect for entertaining. The decked area is finished with the finest Japanese-style ‘Yakisugi’ treatments, which give rich tones and a gentle shimmer to the wood. We continued the flow through the garden with this stunning material, cladding the raised flower planters and integral storage area. This harmonised the features of the garden and brought the whole design together.
As our first full ‘design and build’ project this will always hold a special place in our hearts. We truly wish the clients all the happiness in the world in their fabulous new garden.
